2012 European Family Business Field Trip
BUEC 444 / SMO 686: “Competitive Dynamics and Cultural Differences:
Family Businesses and Entrepreneurship in European Governance Systems”
This Field Trip is the newly designed international flagship field trip of the SMORG department and focuses on family business and entrepreneurship in Europe. The 2012 tour will include Germany, Austria, and France and stops in Frankfurt, Munich, Salzburg and Strasbourg.

The 4th field trip will be from April 28th to May 12th 2012. The field trip equals 3 credits for the MBA or BCom degree. Total travel costs for the tour are estimated to be $3,750 (in addition to course tuition).

Deadlines & Registration
The European Field Trip is a winter course for MBA's (SMO 686) and for Undergraduates (BUEC 444). For this unique trip, we expect high demand. In total, 30 places are offered. MBA and advanced BComm students (3rd and 4th year) are eligible for the study tour. 15 places are offered for both Undergraduate students and for MBA Students.
BCOM Registration
BComm students are required to complete a registration form and see an advisor in the undergraduate office prior to registration.
MBA Registration
MBA students will register online through BearTracks.
Early Bird Registration
If you register in September of 2011, you get an Early bird special and save $ 100.
Family Business Scholarship
If you have taken at least one family business course before the field trip starts in April 2012, you will receive a Center for Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise (CEFE) scholarship of $ 250. Family business courses are:
- SMO 427*/686: Advising Family Business
- SMO 428*/628: Managing Family Enterprise
- BUEC 442*/SMO 642: International Family Enterprise
*3rd year B.COM students are also eligible to attend these courses
