Drawing on the expertise of our world-class Faculty and our strong network in the financial sector, the Finance specialization will position students for successful careers in investment banking, private equity, and corporate finance.

Admissions

Applicants are admitted into the Finance specialization upon application to the MBA Program. The Finance specialization is very competitive, not everyone will be accepted into the specialization. We consider your background, desire to work in the industry, career goals, as well as academic achievement in assessing your application.

As part of the MBA program, students have the option of completing a 4-month internship in between the first and second years of the program.  With the Finance specialization, students can work in Corporate and Investment Banking, Venture Capital, Private Equity, and corporate finance divisions of public and private companies. Key roles can include:

  • investment bankers
  • chief financial officers
  • traders
  • venture capitalists
  • money and portfolio managers

Finance Specialization Required Courses

As part of the MBA - Financial specialization, you are required to complete the following courses:

  • FIN 502 - Introduction to Financial Valuation
  • FIN 503 - Introduction to Corporate Finance
  • FIN 614 - Investments

and four of the following:

  • ACCTG 610 - Financial Reporting for Managers and Analysts
  • ACCTG 630 - Financial Statement Analysis
  • FIN 604 - The Practice of Investment Banking
  • FIN 615 - Trading and Financial Markets
  • FIN 616 - Securities Markets and Financial Intermediation
  • FIN 634 - Corporate Financial Planning
  • FIN 635 - Venture Capital
  • FIN 644 - International Finance
  • FIN 654 - Risk Management
  • FIN 673 - Mergers, Restructuring, and Corporate Control
