Mark Mullaly
Mark has more than twenty-five years of project management experience, working in a variety of industries, including information technology, communications, utilities, insurance, finance, engineering, construction, high tech and the arts.
As a consultant Mark has been a pioneer in the development of organizational project management capabilities. He helped develop several tools, including an Organizational Project Management Baseline Study and PM: RoadMap organizational assessment tool, both of which are based on the project management maturity model. This model was developed in the early 1990s, and was one of the earliest in the marketplace. Most recently, Mark has introduced Focus: Project Manager, a project manager assessment tool that combines the dimensions of personality and skill to support the development of effective project managers.
Mark is a popular and engaging speaker who has been invited to address conferences across North America. His widely read column, Project Management in Practice, appears monthly on gantthead.com, and he is an instructor in project management with the School of Business at the University of Alberta. Mark is a past president of the Northern Alberta Chapter of the Project Management Institute. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in project management at the University of Technology, Sydney. Together with Janice Thomas of Athabasca University, Mark was also co-lead researcher of the 'Value of Project Management' research project conducted for PMI. The results of this groundbreaking research were released at the PMI Research Conference in July 2008.
