Judith Athaide was born in the former West Pakistan and lived in East Pakistan and in India until her family emigrated to Brandon, Manitoba, in the early 1970s. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Honours) in 1983 before getting a MBA in Finance from the University of Alberta in 1985. She returned to the University of Alberta in 1986 to graduate with a Bachelor of Science (Mechanical Engineering) degree in 1989. She pursued studies in 2006 at the Corporate Governance College at the Rotman School of Management.
Judith founded the Cogent Group Inc, an independent consulting firm, in 1999 and is President and CEO. As Founder of the firm, Judith has overseen the growth of the firm such that the clients’ aggregate enterprise value exceeds $250 billion. As a highly-qualified, energy industry executive, she has experience in assisting organizations transition to, and thrive within, competitive markets. Her services include strategic planning, business development, merger and acquisition valuation and negotiation, marketing, and trading. In 2007, Judith accepted senior responsibility, on behalf of EnCana, for the engineering and project execution of The Bow building.
Judith is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists (APEGGA) and the Institute of Corporate Directors. Her current board and committee appointments include being a Director of both of Fortis Alberta Inc and Cognera Corp.
Judith has two children and lives in Calgary with her family.
