Donald A Wheaton was born in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan and moved to Edmonton as a youngster with his family in the early 60’s. He was one of eight children brought up in a very entrepreneurial family where all eight children are working partners in the family business.

Donald joined the family business in 1975 upon graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce. He is currently President of the Wheaton Group of Companies with interests in automotive retailing, aviation, insurance and banking. The family employs approximately 1200 people with business locations in most major cities in Canada. He is currently in the process of integrating the third generation into the family business.

Donald is married to wife Kim, who he met at the University of Alberta, and has four children.
