Am I required to do a summer internship to complete my degree?
We encourage all students, regardless of specialization or joint degree program, to obtain a summer internship.  Some specializations specifically require an internship, so be sure to check the requirements of your specific specialization or joint degree program.

How do students find internship positions?
The MBA Career Services team generates numerous summer internship opportunities.  Students are encouraged to apply for the positions as they become available.  Beyond that, the career services team will work with students to improve their resume writing, career counselling, cover letters, mock interviews, and job search and networking strategies.  Students are invited to attend the numerous guest speakers, employer information sessions, and networking events through out the school year to generate their own summer internships.

Are students responsible for finding their own internship?
The MBA Career Services team locates internship positions, but due to the demand for internships, students are encouraged to pursue their positions whenever possible.  All internships must be approved by the MBA Career Services Office before they are accepted as official summer internships.

How much assistance will I receive in finding an internship?
The MBA Career Services team can provide assistance in career counselling, resume writing, cover letters, and mock interviews.  Students are also invited to attend on-campus recruiting, career fairs, and information sessions.

Are all summer internship assignments in Edmonton?
Most summer internships are located in Edmonton and other cities across Canada.  However, some students have been successful in securing summer internships internationally.

How much do students get paid while working on a summer internship?
Summer internship students get paid an average of $3,000/month, with the exact amount varying by employer.

Do part-time students complete an internship?
Typically, part-time students do not complete an internship.  However, part-time students can elect to complete an internship.  A word of caution though, part-time internships can not be with the students regular employer.
