Laurie Hillis

Laurie Hillis, M.A., has been teaching with Executive Education at the University of Alberta for a number of years. As well, she is a faculty member of The Banff Centre, Leadership Division, where she has been a Program Director leading the design and delivery of customized, leadership development programs for the past ten years. In 2001 she was honoured with the Faculty of the Year Award from The Banff Centre. Laurie is also a faculty member at Royal Roads University, Victoria, teaching and coaching in the Master of Arts in Leadership Program. 

Laurie provides a wide variety of learning programs customized to meet specific individual, team and organizational demands, focused on core competency development and performance improvement. Specializing in all areas of leadership development, Laurie has particular passion in the areas of: organizational culture, change leadership, emotional intelligence, team effectiveness, executive coaching and succession challenges related to building a viable, diverse and engaged workplace for the future.

With a well-earned reputation as an excellent interactive facilitator and coach, Laurie blends her practical, workplace experience with academic quests, bringing with her an ability to create a dynamic, positive learning environment. She is an accomplished writer on the topics of Leadership and Emotional Intelligence and has consulted to organizations in the public sector, private enterprise and not-for-profit. 

Laurie Hillis, a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), is an honours graduate of the University of Calgary, Adult Education (1994), University of Toronto, Canadian Risk Management (1988). She is certified in many tools, including the Myers-Briggs®, HBDI, StressMap, the EQi/EQ360 and EQ Map®. As a passionate lifelong learner, Laurie completed a Master of Arts in Leadership at Royal Roads University, Victoria (1999). Her thesis Leadership Learning: A Leap of Faith, explored the importance of learning for today’s leaders.
