Post Graduate Program
The Post-Graduate program is available to Government of Alberta managers who have graduated from the Management Development Program (MDP), and Senior & Executive Managers’ Development Program (SEMDP).
The purpose of the program is to support the learning and development needs of managers and senior managers. The program is intended for those managers and senior managers who may be potential successors at senior levels within the government.

Who can participate in the Post-Graduate Program?
- MDP Graduates with the classification of Manager may register as Post-Graduates in the SEMDP program. *At this time the Post-Graduate program pilot is not open to graduates at professional/technical or senior administrative classifications.
- SEMDP Graduates with the classification of Senior Manager may register as Post-Graduates in the Corporate Executive Development Competency Sessions (CED).
- As in all registrations, the approval of your supervisor is required.
Which courses can Post-Graduate Participants register in?
- Post-Graduate participants in the SEMDP program may register in any SEMDP course, space permitting.
- Post-Graduate participants in the CED program may register in any CED session, space permitting.
How many Post-Graduate Participants will be accepted into the pilot program?
- There is no limit on the number of Post-Graduate participants in the pilot program, however, individual courses will have a maximum of 40% Post-Graduate participants. “Regular stream” participants will have first access to course registration. Post-Graduate participants will then be registered, space permitting. For example, if a course has a total enrolment of 26, up to 10 participants may be post-graduates. Post-Graduate participants will be notified by the Executive Education office of successful registration at least four weeks prior to the course start date.
Is there a limit on the number of courses Post-Graduate Participants can take?
- No. Post-Graduate Participants may earn unlimited credits, space permitting in the courses.
Can Post-Graduate Participants graduate?
- Yes. Once you have received 19 credits in SEMDP or taken all 5 courses in CED you are eligible to graduate.
I am a Post-Graduate participant. How do I register?
- Post-Graduate participants will use the same registration system as “regular stream” participants. When registering, Post-Graduate participants will be required to identify themselves as Post-Graduates.
