Our program is vibrant and growing, with an entering class of about 15 a year. Graduates of the Doctor of Philosophy in Business program have obtained positions in prestigious universities throughout the world, including senior positions at Universities such as UC (Berkeley), Imperial College (London), Emory, Iowa, Hong Kong Inst of Science and Technology, McGill and Western Ontario. There is a tremendous and persistent shortage of Business faculty around the world and demand for our graduates is very strong. Many of our students obtain multiple offers for tenure track positions, with salaries well into the six figure range.

Interested in a PhD in Business Administration or research in another concentration?

The Doctor of Philosophy in Business program at the University of Alberta offers majors in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources Management/Industrial Relations, Management Science, Marketing and Organizational Analysis – including macro and micro organizational behavior.  Please note that our PhD Program in Management Science will not be offered for at least the 2010/11 academic year, as this program area is undergoing a revision. 

The program also allows students to get involved with research beyond their own project and concentration. For example, the Business Research Conference is held annually to give students an opportunity to expose their ideas and research results to faculty and colleagues.
