Student Business Plan Competition - 2010
There are three categories in the competition:
- Technology
The commercial application of scientific knowledge or radical innovation.
Sponsored by TEC Edmonton - Venture Prize. - Family Enterprise
Multi-generational and/or sibling enterprises using existing family resources to start a new business or significantly expand the enterprise's core business into new products, new markets, spin-off companies, etc.
Sponsored by Alberta Business Family Institute. - Open-Innovation
Creative mobilization of resources (e.g. opportunity, products, markets, team, financial) with high potential to be a successful new venture.
Sponsored by TBC.
With this invitation students have the opportunity to:
- Focus their business desires into a formal action plan.
- Obtain valuable feedback from local business leaders and experts.
- Receive one of the top six invitations per category to present to a panel of judges.
- Earn $6,000 for 1st place or one of two runner-up prizes of $2,000 per category.
- Network with business leaders, venture capitalists, investors and government representatives.
- Interact with high achieving student entrepreneurs.
- Registration also ensures you can attend the VenturePrize Business Planning Seminars held at Stollery Executive Development Centre (map), 5th Floor, Business Building, U of A Campus. For seminars we recommend parking in U lot accessed off 111 St. at 91 Avenue. Parking cost for evening is $3.75. From parking lot enter Hub Mall and walk to the north end. Take sky walk to Business/Tory atrium. Walk through second floor of atrium and enter business building (south side of Atrium). Take elevator to 5th floor.

3 hardcopies of the plan and 1 digital copy on CD.
