Technology Commercialization Centre

The Technology Commercialization Centre (TCC), directed by Mike Lounsbury, aims to support technological entrepreneurship and commercialization planning and assessment, to increase Alberta's entrepreneurial capacity. Through training and outreach, the TCC facilitates technology and venture development by linking skilled professionals at the science-business interface. Darryl Lesiuk is an Executive Fellow for the Centre.

The TCC's core focus is supporting the development of fundamental knowledge in the areas of technology innovation and commercialization through scholarly research. To this end we are raising the visibility of our own expertise, as well as that of the commercialization and entrepreneurship research community. In particular, we have launched a working paper series in partnership with the Tanaka  Business School at Imperial College, London, and the School of Business at the University of California at Davis. We also sponsor workshops, conferences and talks featuring world class scholars.

The Centre encourages and nurtures the tech-entrepreneurs and leaders of the future by providing them with the skills and resources they need to enhance innovation and technology commercialization practices. In  particular, the TCC encourages entrepreneurially-minded individuals who have a passion for developing key scientific and technological issues in areas such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, biomedical devices, computing and communications.

In addition, the Centre fosters connections between university research and industry. The TCC stimulates technology entrepreneurship through partnerships with key stakeholders such as TEC Edmonton, Alberta Ingenuity, Advanced Education & Technology, NanoAlberta, and AHFMR.
