The University of Alberta recently identified 20 areas of research excellence. The list includes "Professional Service Firm Management and the Management of Professionals" - work done by scholars within the School of Business.

Their research focuses on understanding management of professionals in a variety of settings.  It includes work by:

The Centre was established in 1992, with the following mandate:

To be the leading centre in Canada for:

  1. Research into the management of professional service firms;
  2. Education of members of professional service firms on management issues.

From this mandate, the following objectives were derived:

  1. To foster and support research on the management of professional service firms.
  2. To be a focus for the development of undergraduate and postgraduate courses on the management of professional service firms.
  3. To develop executive education related to the management of professional service firms.
  4. To collect and disseminate research, data and information on national and international developments in the management of professional service firms.
