Dr. Edy Wong is the Associate Dean (International), and Director of the Centre for International Business Studies (CIBS) at the School of Business, University of Alberta. Dr. Wong graduated with a PhD from the University of Alberta in 1984, specializing in International Business and Economic Development. With a keen interest in Asia, he has focused on the Asia-Pacific region and trade related issues in both his research and business activities. As an educator, Dr. Wong has authored various learning materials in International business and is the author of the Supply Chain Management Professional Program, the only internationally recognized professional designation in Supply Chain Management in Canada.
Dr. Edy Wong was twice named one of the fifty most influential people in Alberta business by Alberta Venture Magazine, (in 2003 and 1997,) and received entries in the 2003, 2002 and 2001 editions of the Who’s Who in Canadian Business. Other recognitions Edy has received include the Award of Excellence from the Northern Alberta Transportation Club in 2001 and subject of a feature article in the March 2007 issue of Foreign Talents Magazine in China. Dr. Wong has recently been honored by the supply chain professionals in Canada with a Lifetime Achievements Award making him a Fellow of PMAC (Purchasing Management Association of Canada).
Dr. Wong has served as a member of the Capital Region Economic Development Committee of the City of Edmonton (2009 to 2010), a member of the National Board of Directors of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (2001 to 2010), consultant to the China Petroleum Equipment Manufacturers Association (2005 to 2009) and the Shenzhen Logistics Association in China (2004 to 2008). Dr. Wong was also the president of the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association (Edmonton Chapter) in 1999-2002 and is currently a visiting professor at various Chinese institutions including the China Academy of Governance, Sinopec Management College, Shangdong University of Science and Technology, South West University, and Yunnan Normal University.
