国际商学中心
CIBS is a focal point for nurturing and coordinating internationalizing efforts in Alberta. Our home is at the University of Alberta, in the School of Business, because as a school it recognizes that today's business environment is a global one, and managers and decision-makers should be trained and prepared to act in it. At the university and in the broader community we work to:
- augment the international elements of the university's business programs;
- forge world-wide links with universities and research institutes abroad, by:
- facilitating scholarly visits and research stays to the university, and within Alberta's business and financial sectors
- sponsoring international guest lecturers to speak on topics of current and applied interest
- promoting a range of business student exchanges
- help keep the business community in Alberta informed on matters of international business;
- commission research to expand understanding and involvement in international business; and
- disseminate research findings, particularly to the province's managerial community.
CIBS has operated, since 1989, as one of nine Canadian university-based international business centres, financed by the federal Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT). The Centre also is supported by Imperial Oil Ltd., the Eldon D. Foote Endowment, and by a Royal Bank of Canada operating grant.
