Peter Kilburn Memorial Lecture
The Peter Kilburn Memorial Lecture series started in 2001 and is jointly planned by the Alberta School of Business and IISD, the International Institute for Sustainable Development.
It is supported by a generous endowment set up by the children and grandchildren of Peter Kilburn, who graduated from the University of Alberta in 1929 and went on to become a prominent Canadian investment banker from the 1940’s through the 1970’s.
Mr. Kilburn’s family decided that his business career and his attitudes toward nature and the environment could best be honoured by informing public debate through a lecture series that focuses on sustainable development.
On Dec. 8, 2009, CABREE hosted the Peter Kilburn Memorial Lecture featuring Dr. Vicky Sharpe from Sustainable Development Technology Canada.
Dr. Sharpe’s presentation "The Role of Canada and Technology in Addressing Global Environmental Challenges" is available for download here.
