Ensuring Success Down the Road
Developed by the Business Families Foundation, RoadMap is designed to blend family needs with business demands. Participants learn to communicate more effectively and understand more fully the different points of view of family and others involved in the business. The program is sensitive and respectful of individual and family issues. Facilitators create a space and framework for constructive and meaningful change.
The development, nurturing and success of the business family comprise a journey of discovery: one that stems from the vision of a founder, who, through risk and hard work, builds a successful family business. Following generations inherit this legacy, along with the challenge to carry it forward.
The RoadMap program has business prosperity and family success as its destination. Each module addresses potential issues, trends, opportunities and challenges. Participants learn how to recognize and avoid roadblocks, blind turns and dangerous potholes. The course delivers all the tools and skills necessary in order to enable a business family to navigate the road ahead and continue their journey safely.
Attendance
We recommend that each family be represented by both genders and two generations, ideally including all members of the family business enterprise:
- Founders and owners
- Successors and others working in the business
- Non-active family members
- Husbands and wives of all of the above
Presentation
The program is offered in a variety of formats to accommodate the schedules and geographical limitations of participating families. RoadMap normally includes 35 hours of learning over two weekend sessions of 17.5 hours each.
